How Much Do Cabinets Cost in Midland, TX?
Ask a cabinet shop in Midland what a kitchen costs and you'll usually hear "it depends" — which is true, and also useless for planning. This page shows the actual framework Permian Cabinet Design prices with, the same one behind the free designer on this site, so you can work out a realistic range for your own kitchen.
The linear foot is the unit
Cabinets are figured by the linear foot — one foot of cabinet run along the wall. Your tier picks the rate, and these rates are installed ranges:
Stock cabinets: $100–$400 per linear foot. Standard sizes, fastest turnaround.
Semi-custom cabinets: $150–$700 per linear foot. More sizes, styles, and finish options.
Custom cabinets: $500–$1,200 per linear foot. Built to fit your exact space.
Uppers and tall cabinets count differently
A foot of wall cabinet isn't a foot of base cabinet — the material and hardware differ, so the counting does too:
- Base cabinets count at 100% of the rate.
- Upper (wall) cabinets count at 70%. They're shallower and use less material.
- Tall cabinets — pantries, oven columns — count at 130%, because floor-to-ceiling takes more of everything.
One kitchen, worked all the way through
Picture a kitchen with 20 feet of cabinet wall: 17 feet of bases, uppers over 12 of those feet, and a 3-foot tall pantry. Counted the designer's way:
- Base cabinets: 17 ft × 100% = 17.0 ft
- Upper cabinets: 12 ft × 70% = 8.4 ft
- Tall pantry: 3 ft × 130% = 3.9 ft
- Counted total: 29.3 linear feet
Run that counted total through each tier and the range for that kitchen is:
Stock: 29.3 ft × $100–$400 = $2,930–$11,720
Semi-custom: 29.3 ft × $150–$700 = $4,395–$20,510
Custom: 29.3 ft × $500–$1,200 = $14,650–$35,160
The ranges are wide because the choices inside them are real. What follows is what actually moves a kitchen from one end of its range to the other.
What pushes the number around
- Materials. Plywood boxes outlast particleboard and cost more. Wood species and finish matter too — painted and stained hardwood aren't the same money.
- Door and drawer style. A flat slab front is the simplest build; detailed shaker or raised-panel fronts take more shop time.
- Hardware. Soft-close hinges and full-extension undermount glides are standard on good cabinets and priced accordingly.
- Inserts and organizers. Pull-out shelves, spice and trash pull-outs, lazy susans, tray dividers — each one adds to the total, so plan them in from the start.
- Layout changes. Moving walls, plumbing, or electrical is construction on top of the cabinets.
A range is not a quote
The range is for planning; the quote comes after an in-person measure. Real kitchens have walls out of square, floors out of level, and appliance dimensions that change what fits. An exact price given without a measure is a guess dressed up as a number. Get the bracket here, then let the tape measure settle it.
